Nation Demands To Know Why Nobody Is Asking The Right Questions

In a fiery panel segment, four guests were muted, one was congratulated, and zero follow-up questions were permitted. Ratings soared.

A prime-time panel discussion descended into what producers are calling 'peak television' on Thursday night, after a segment ostensibly about accountability saw four guests muted mid-sentence, one guest congratulated at length for a policy that hasn't been implemented yet, and precisely zero follow-up questions permitted across a full ninety minutes of airtime.

The anchor, visibly moved by his own opening monologue, spent the first eleven minutes asking a single rhetorical question โ€” 'but why is nobody asking the real questions?' โ€” without pausing long enough for anyone to attempt an answer, real or otherwise.

Viewers took to social media in droves, largely to agree with whichever side they already agreed with, in what analysts describe as 'a remarkably efficient use of collective outrage.' Ratings for the segment reportedly spiked during the muting, a pattern producers say they've 'noticed, and will absolutely be repeating.'

One guest, muted for a full six minutes before being briefly unmuted to say 'thank you for having me,' described the experience afterward as 'clarifying, in the sense that I now understand exactly what this show is for.'

The segment closed, as it always does, with the anchor thanking everyone for a 'spirited debate,' a phrase control room staff say is used interchangeably with 'we ran out of time to let anyone finish.'

Four guests muted. One congratulated. Zero follow-ups. A perfect broadcast, by the only metric that matters.
