World Leaders Wait Two Hours While Backdrop Gets Repainted To Match One Man's Blazer
A major summit ran two hours late this week. Not because of policy talks. Because a wall was the wrong shade of orange.

A major world summit ran two hours behind schedule this week. The delay had nothing to do with security. It had nothing to do with policy either. It was about a wall.
The wall was the summit backdrop. Our source, known to us only as the Backdrop Architect, decided the shade of orange did not match his blazer. Painters were called in. Photographers were sent out for tea. World leaders were asked to wait in a side room, with snacks, and no real explanation.
'The logo must always be visible,' the Architect said, holding up two paint swatches that looked identical to everyone but him. 'Also, the light was hitting my left side. We fixed that too, while we were up there.'
By the time the wall was ready, the actual summit agenda had been cut from three hours to forty minutes. Nobody seemed to mind very much. The group photo, everyone agreed, looked excellent.
One aide tried to ask what, exactly, had been agreed to in the shorter meeting. He was told to look at the camera and smile. He did. That photo is now the only part of the summit anyone remembers.
